The two-day long “Luangdimai Conclave” (Zeliangrong Leaders Meet) organised by the Luangdimai Citizens Forum (LCF)  under the theme ”At the crossroads: Where Next” with the solemn declaration to retain the unity and oneness of Zeliangrong/Luangdimai people  concluded today at St. Paul Retreat House, Mantripukhri, Imphal, Manipur state, India.

The resource person of the Conclave Dr. Sam Pamei, Dai Remmei, Commissioner, Provident Fund of India, Dr. Elungkiebe Zeliang, Associate Professor, Martin Luther University, Shillong Dr. Gaikhamsin Riamei, Joint Director, Tribal Research Institute, Imphal, K. Elu Ndang, Assembly Speaker, Naga Hoho, T. Mihru, former President, AZSU, Samsadin Zeme, President, Indigenous People Forum, Athuan  Abonmai, President, Zeliangrong Baudi, (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) Mathiupuang Gonmei, social worker, Titus Kamei, President, Zeliangrong Youth Front, Nchaheing Kompoing, President, AZSU, Pamei Tingenlung, former President, AZSU, Dr. Poujenlung Gonmei, Senior Research Fellow, Hyderabad University, AP, Zilliang Pamei, former President, AZSU, Ajang Longmei, General Secretary, Zeliangrong Union, and others emphasised the need to remain united as one Zeliangrong ‘tribe’. Prominent Artists like Ajei Kamei, Kachangthai Gonmei, and Malanthou  Pamei entertained the event.

Meanwhile, the LCF deplores the unwarranted raid seemingly a calculated ploy to disturb the peaceful Conclave by Manipur Police Commando personnel on day-1 06.04.2018 at noon time. The commando team consisting about 30 fully armed personnel led by one IPS qofficer and 2 MPS officers inspected attendance register and called out some leaders to be questioned. That was uncalled for and the raid disturbed the smooth session of the Conclave greatly. The proceeding of the meeting was stopped till the disturbing spree ended.

The LCF urged the higher authority concerned to take up appropriate action against the erring police officials as per the law of the land.

The Luangdimai Conclave Imphal solemnly declares the following:

  1. That, the Zeliangrong people are One People who are bounded by the indestructible bond of blood relationship., The Imphal Conclave, therefore, unanimously decided to uphold and support all the Zeliangrong frontal bodies in their endeavour towards maintaining and fostering Zeliangrong people as One Single Entity or ‘Tribe’.
  2. That, the Conclave condemns the unilateral decision of the Tatar Hoho of the NSCN/ GPRN for according separate recognition to the dialectal groups of the Zeliangrong people as Separate Tribes on 23rd March 2018.
  3. That, the Conclave will continue to actively involve and support the promotion of the Zeliangrong Common language i.e Luangdilat.
  4. That, the Conclave decided to engage Full Time social workers dedicated to serve the Zeliangrong /Luangdimai people.
  5. The Conclave also has decided to organize a grand “Makuiluangdi Festival” in 2019 in collaboration with like-minded people.
